Just before the weekend, it was announced that Robert Pattinson (unfortunately mostly known for the Twilight series) would be taking over cowl as our new Batman in writer/director Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, The Batman.
Quick Recap: No word on if this is a full reboot, prequel, or just a one-off film of the caped crusader. Rumors say the film will have Catwoman and the Penguin as the villains. Matt Reeves is best known for directing Cloverfield, Dawn of the and War for the Planet of the Apes, as well as writing the latter.
As the internet is known for, shit hit the fan pretty much immediately after the news broke and the jokes came pouring in.

It’s also probably a good idea to remember that there is no “one true Batman”. Adam West’s goofy and whimsical Batman is just as valid as Christian Bale’s real-world Batman.

But others are optimistic about the casting (myself included). And they’re quick to point out that people didn’t like Michael Keaton being cast, they didn’t like Christian Bale or Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight series, and that it’s been a looooong time since Twilight.

Listen, we’ve survived the Bat-Nipples.

We made it through The Dark Knight‘s awful fight choreography.

And the Bat-Credit Card didn’t kill our love for the character (but it hurt out love for Clooney).

Wait for the trailers and vote with your wallets when the film comes out.

Worst case scenario, I’m always open to put on the cowl and give it a shot.
