Dad furious as ‘crazy’ DHL delivery driver hurls £50 scooter he bought daughter for Christmas over wal

A DAD blasted a delivery firm after his daughter's Christmas present was chucked over a wall into his garden courtyard.

Paul Hepworth, 41, purchased his young daughter Felicity a £50 scooter and caught the delivery man on CCTV flinging the parcel into the air.

Footage shows the scooter flying over Paul's 8ft wall before crashing into garden furniture and landing on paving slabs.

The driver is then seen leaping up to see over the wall and take a photo to show the parcel had been delivered.

Paul has called for delivery firm DHL to discipline the driver.

The dad-of-four Paul told The Sun: "He could have hit one of the kids, it's crazy, there's no way he could have seen over the wall because it's so high.

"Why didn't he just use the door?

"It's a Christmas present, you don't expect it to be thrown ten foot in the air to land on concrete paving slabs.

"This bloke needs to be spoken to, to me that is total gross misconduct."The scooter survived the 8ft drop, but its packaging was badly scuffed, ripped and dented.

Paul lives with wife and full-time mum Victoria, 37, and their four children, new-born Delilah, Felicity, two, Henry, four, and 11-year-old Olivia.

Victoria was at home when the parcel was delivered on Wednesday at the family home in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear.

She received a text from DHL to say the parcel had been delivered and signed for.

Victoria said:  “Nobody signed for it so it must have been by the neighbours.

"I knocked on their doors and none of them had it and then I checked the CCTV.

“I was quite angry to be honest, it's disrespectful.

"It’s a present, you would not expect things to be chucked in that way.

"It's a miracle the scooter survived the fall."

DHL apologised and said their driver's conduct falls below their standards.

A spokesman said: "Clearly this incident is unacceptable and falls way below our normal high standard of customer service.

"We are investigating the issue with the driver involved and we have been in touch with Mr Hepworth to offer our apologies."
