Mystery ‘Bumpsy’ artist daubs versions of Mr Bump around Bristol – home city of Banksy

 A MYSTERY artist dubbed Bumpsy has daubed dozens of versions of Mr Bump around a city suburb.

The images of the bandaged, bright-blue figure have residents stumped in Sea Mills, Bristol — home city of graffiti artist Banksy.

The pictures have been spotted on signage boards, on tree stumps, under bridges and even on rubbish bins.

And locals seem to be rather taken with the striking depictions.

Dog-walker Angela Weir said: “Not sure what it’s all about, but it’s probably just a bit of fun and why not?”

Luke Merrett commented: “I have no idea what the background behind these are, but they always bring me a little joy when jogging past them.”

And Day Rochford added: “Although I’m not sure what they represent, they filled me with nostalgia of my childhood, which made me smile.”

The original Mr Bump was created by illustrator Roger Hargreaves in the 1970s for his best-selling Mr Men children’s books.

Accident-prone Mr Bump also appeared alongside Mr Tickle and Mr Happy in a BBC TV series narrated by the late Arthur Lowe.
