NFL fines Aaron Rodgers and Packers team; Rodgers acknowledges some may have been misled by his comments on vaccine: 'I take full responsibility for those comments'

 Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers acknowledged on Tuesday that he previously made remarks that some individuals may have considered misleading.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said that sports can draw people together amid adversity and that he understands that he is a role model to many.

He said that "to anybody who felt mislead by those comments, I take full responsibility for those comments," in what may have been a reference to his claim earlier this year that he was "immunized."

The unvaccinated NFL player, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, said earlier this year that he had "been immunized," in response to a question about whether he was vaccinated.

During a Friday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers previously said that his statement about being "immunized" was not a lie. He also noted that he cannot take the mRNA vaccines due to an allergy to an ingredient.

Rodgers has come under criticism, though he says the organization and his team members knew about his status.

"The NFL's review of the Green Bay Packers' COVID-19 protocols was completed Tuesday, and a league source said the team was fined $300,000, while quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver Allen Lazard were each fined $14,650," according to ESPN.

The outlet said that the probe started after Rodgers tested positive for the illness. The quarterback is required to isolate for 10 days but is eligible to return to the team on Saturday, which is the day prior to their game against the Seattle Seahawks.

"The violations included the unvaccinated Rodgers not wearing a mask during his news conferences and because the team did not report that Rodgers and Lazard attended a Halloween party, even though it was away from the team facility. By attending, Rodgers and Lazard violated the protocol that prevents unvaccinated players from gathering in groups of more than three, which was the reason for their fine," ESPN reported.
